Strategy Tips

Cresselia uses field effects such as Special Damage Reduction, Stat Reduction Reflection, Status Condition Defense, and Status Move Defense to give itself an advantage in battle.
Additionally, these effects will be permanent unless removed by the player.
You can try using Brick Break or Defog to remove the Field Effect, or you can attack with a Move that isn’t affected by the Field Effect.
If you remove the Field Effect, the same Field Effect will not appear again.

Cresselia will also always have either the Brain Barrier 8 or Brawn Barrier 8 Passive Skill, reducing the damage it takes from either special or physical attack moves.
Terra Firma 10 almost completely reduces damage from Ground-type attacks. Make sure you come prepared with the right kinds of Moves.

HP Bar 1

  • With the Special Damage Reduction Field Effect and the Brain Barrier 8 passive skill, Cresselia can reduce the damage it takes from special attacks. Try hitting with physical attacks instead!
  • You can use moves such as Nanu & Persian’s Screech to lower the opponent’s Defense and boost the offensive power of your physical attacks!
  • Cresselia can raise its own stats with Calm Mind and Double Team. Try disrupting this with Moves like Snatch and Haze!
  • On Hard difficulty or higher, Cresselia will use Go Viral 9 and Thunder Wave early on in the battle to inflict Paralysis on your whole team. Try using the Passive Skill Lithe to guard against it!

HP Bar 2

  • Unlike HP Bar 1, Cresselia will use Brawn Barrier 8 to reduce the damage it receives from physical attacks, so try using special attacks instead!
  • With the Stat Reduction Reflection Field Effect, Cresselia can block status moves from lowering its stats. Try using attack moves that affect stats, such as Snarl, to lower the opponent’s Sp. Atk!
  • On Very Hard difficulty battles, Cresselia starts off the battle with Gradual Healing, so try getting your opponent Trapped to prevent it from restoring HP!
  • On Hard difficulty or higher, Cresselia will use Go Viral 9 and Toxic when its HP drops to half or below to inflict Bad Poison on your whole team. To counter this, try using the Status Condition Reflection Field Effect or the Antitoxin Passive Skill!

Recommended Sync Pairs and Tactics: Option 1

HP Bar 3

  • Cresselia will continue using Brawn Barrier 8 to reduce the damage it takes from physical attacks, so continue to use special attacks!
  • Watch out for Cresselia’s Status Move Defense Field Effect— this negates your status moves that target the opponent!
  • Cresselia will occasionally use its powerful Hyper Beam attack. You can protect yourself with Moves that allow you to take up a defensive posture, like Piers & Obstagoon’s Obstruct!
  • Cresselia will attack your whole team with Swift and Icy Wind, so use Lysandre & Yveltal’s Oblivion Wing to restore their HP while attacking with Dark Pulse!
