A Message from the Pokémon Masters EX Team (Vol. 16)

Greetings, Trainers.

We’re the producers of Pokémon Masters EX, Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi, here with a new message for you.

Today, we’ll tell you about our year-end update.

We’ll also tell you about the events that will begin as we head into the new year.

App Update for Late December

As of late December’s update, the following three things will be added to the game.

Reducing Stamina Recovery Time

As we mentioned in a previous message, the time to recover stamina will change from one point of stamina every six minutes to one point of stamina every four minutes.

In a survey we sent out previously, the majority of respondents answered that while the game is easier to play than before, they have some concerns regarding the stamina system.

Over 60% of players voted in favor of stamina, but they made it clear that there are some issues they’d like to see addressed. Stamina recovery speed was overwhelmingly voted as the biggest concern.

Taking these survey results into account, we have decided to maintain the stamina system in Pokémon Masters EX, but we intend to continue making further adjustments to increase everyone’s enjoyment of the game. We will continue to monitor your feedback as well as the state of the game as we work to provide the smoothest gameplay experience possible.

Debut of Theme Skills

This app update will introduce theme skills.
You’ll be able to strengthen your team using sync pair combinations that are different from the ones required for type skills. For example, you can build a team using sync pairs that are Gym Leaders—or using sync pairs that are from the same region.

Each sync pair will have theme skills with names such as “Kanto,” “Gym Leader,” or “Elite Four.” Effects are activated when two or more sync pairs with the same theme skill are put on a team.
If multiple theme skills match, the effects of all matching theme skills will be activated, so we hope you enjoy experimenting with various combinations.

Also, the skills we introduced to you in a previous message, “Pallet Town,” “Villain,” “Complicated Family,” and “Sygna Suit,” will not be implemented with this update, but new skills will be added to the game as we continue to add new sync pairs, and existing sync pairs will get new skills as well.

We’ll also be updating the filter function when theme skills are introduced. You’ll be able to filter by theme skills’ names, such as “Kanto” and “Gym Leader,” as well as by the kinds of moves your sync pairs have.

Furthermore, we’ll be making updates that make it easier for you to find the sync pair you’re looking for. For example, on the Increase Potential screen, you’ll be able to sort sync pairs based on their initial number of ★s.

Day Care Expansion

The day care’s limit will increase from 100 to 200. This means that you’ll be able to drop off up to 200 Pokémon hatched from Eggs at the day care.

Holiday Presents on December 23, 2020!

We’re preparing holiday presents for everyone who logs in after December 23, 2020 at 11:00 p.m.
We hope the presents help you out as you play the game.

The Champion Stadium Update

Start of the Johto Challenge

On December 27, 2020, battles against the Elite Four and Champion of the Johto region will come to the Champion Stadium.

After the update, the region featured in the Champion Stadium will change periodically, so while you won’t be able to battle against the Elite Four and Champion of the Kanto region after this update, you’ll be able to take on Kanto battles again when they return at a later date.

Addition of Master Mode

Along with the start of the Johto Challenge, master mode will be added to the Champion Stadium.
As we mentioned in our previous message, this mode lets you delve even deeper into battles by allowing you to adjust the strength of your opponents.
The stronger your opponent, the more points you’ll get for winning, so we encourage those who are confident in their abilities to take on more challenging battles and try to earn as many total point rewards as they can.

Please note that in order to attempt master mode, you must first complete the medal that is obtainable for the region that’s available at that time, so please strengthen your sync pairs in preparation as you wait for the update.

Story Event: Season’s Greetings

The Season’s Greetings story event will begin on December 31, 2020.
This event will feature sync pairs wearing special outfits for New Year’s.

Sync Pairs in New Year’s Outfits Arrive in the Sync Pair Scout!

The sync pairs wearing New Year’s outfits that are featured in the Season’s Greetings story event will also appear in the sync pair scout. Two sync pairs will be appearing, so we hope you look forward to it.

New Year’s Gifts on December 31, 2020!

We have special gifts prepared for everyone on December 31, 2020,
so don’t forget to log in and collect them!

Return of the Legendary Event: Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings

The Pure Hearts and Rainbow Wings legendary event will return on January 3, 2021.
During this event, the level cap of Silver & Ho-Oh, who you can add to your team from this event, will be increased to Lv. 130. Also, their 20 Custom ★ Power-Ups that you could not obtain the last time this event was held will be available this time.

Furthermore, 20 Custom ★ Power-Ups for sync pairs that can join your team from previous legendary events will also be available when those events return in the future.

6★ EX Skyla Sync Pair Support Rally

The 6★ EX Skyla Sync Pair Support Rally will begin on January 10, 2021.

By completing all of the rally missions, you can get the following ★ Power-Ups, so we hope you can use them to strengthen Skyla.

  • 3★ Power-Up ×20
  • 4★ Power-Up ×20
  • Custom ★ Power-Up ×20 for Skyla

You will be able to exchange Skyla Custom ★ Power-Ups for Champion Spirit in the Exchange Items menu.

Future Updates

Sync Pairs in Seasonal Outfits

After New Year’s, the next seasonal sync pairs will arrive for the upcoming event coinciding with Valentine’s Day.
Seasonal sync pairs will continue to arrive afterward as well, so we hope you look forward to them.

What to Expect in the Next Message

Our next message is scheduled for mid-January.
In it, we’ll discuss our celebration for the one-and-a-half-year mark of the game (which will come in late February) as well as our future plans.

We’re always working hard to deliver updates and improvements that make the world of Pokémon Masters EX as fun as possible.

We prioritize Trainers’ feedback throughout the development process, so don’t hesitate to let us know what you think.

Until next time, thank you for playing Pokémon Masters EX.
